Trump’s remarks against immigrants

Recent comments from former President Donald Trump’s remarks against immigrants, where he stated that they were “poisoning the blood of our country,” have drawn criticism from civil rights groups, including the Anti-Defamation League (ADL).

ADL CEO Jonathan Greenblatt condemned Trump’s remarks as racist, xenophobic, and dangerous, warning that such rhetoric could incite real-world violence. Trump’s use of the phrase “poisoning the blood” echoed language historically used by White supremacists, which has roots in the concept of blood purity, notably mentioned by Adolf Hitler in Mein Kampf.

In response, a Trump campaign spokesperson defended the language, stating that the phrase was commonly used in everyday life and media and dismissing the criticism as unwarranted outrage.
